Keys Study Indicates Cuba opening will have major impact - Only Key West will continue to prosper after opening of Cuba recently study said. Study commissioned by business group for investment group Stone Group of the Bahamas indicated that the opening of Cuba will impact the Keys, Bahamas and Jamaica the most. The Middle Keys will contract in revenues since the lack of economic diversity in the area - Fishing Sportsman/Diving Operations will begin to move since large activities for Sportsman are in planning stages for the Northern Coast of Cuba and that long-term trend is expected to redirect revenues for 20 years or more. Municipal Governments have yet to adjust to the changing markets and still are reliant upon the th peak revenues of the 90's. Key West will continue as a sea transportation hub with it's new terminal but cruise ship arrivals are expected to drop off dramatically.
